How Christinaskolan cut grading time in half

At Gradr, we believe education is built on the human connection between teacher and student. That's why we build tools that take the repetitive, time-consuming parts of teaching off the table — so teachers can focus on what actually matters.

Christinaskolan believed in this mission early. Now they're rolling it out to every teacher and student in the school.

The goal is simple: make formative feedback more personal for students, and less time-consuming for teachers.

The pilot

During the autumn term, a group of selected teachers at Christinaskolan trialed Gradr in their daily work over three months. The school handles a high volume of text-based assignments, meaning feedback and grading take up a significant share of teachers' time.

Going in, they wanted an answer to one question: can we reduce the time spent on feedback without compromising — or while actually improving — the quality?

Two things were in focus:

  • How does Gradr affect the time teachers spend on grading?

  • How is the quality and clarity of feedback perceived?

The results

Every teacher in the pilot experienced a significant reduction in grading time. For some assignments, time was cut by more than 50 percent.

At the same time, feedback was perceived as more structured and easier to understand — helping students get a clearer picture of their strengths and what to work on next. Parents noticed too, reporting that the feedback gave them better insight into their child's development.

The broader effect: teachers got more time for the core of their work.

As one teacher put it:

"It's so rewarding to spend less time on grading — because then I can be more present in what the students are actually doing and give the individual support I want to give."

More than a pilot

The collaboration between Gradr and Christinaskolan shows what it looks like when AI works as a practical support in a teacher's everyday life — relieving time-consuming tasks and creating better conditions for both teaching and learning.

It also shows that great edtech is built with teachers, not just for them.

"Christinaskolan is right there with us, pushing the boundaries of what's possible and continuously contributing to our fast-paced development," says Noah Langert Hedman, Co-founder and CEO of Gradr. "This is more than a successful pilot. It's a partnership."
