Q1. Question 1
Question 1 Difficulty: A

What makes a good life? What is important to you? The online magazine Outlook will focus on the subject A Good Life and you are now invited to write a text for the magazine. Write a text about what is important in life to people in general – and to yourself.

What is important to people in general in order to live a good life? What important decisions do people need to make in life? What is a good life for you personally? How can you reach your good life? How has the idea of a good life changed over time?
Ω

The thing that is most important to people in general is love. If you don't feel loved or give love to others, you will not feel any happiness in life. To feel important, to have a nice job where you can make yourself a living and pay for your rent, bills and food is also important. You have to have human rights, like being able to go to school and drink clean water. The most simple thing as having a bed to sleep on is something that we normally don't pay attention to. There are many important decisions that we need to do in our lives. One of them is what we want to work with when we grow up. In the long term, the small decisions are the ones which shape us into becoming the persons that we are today.

Argumentative text: Reading
RETURNED
YOUR ANSWER

Reading books is one of the most important things we can do for our own development. When you read you get to step into other people’s lives and thoughts, and that way our ability to understand each other grows. Many young people today drop reading in favour of the phone, which I think is a shame. Research shows that them that read a lot get a bigger vocabulary and find it easier to express themselves in writing. You can see it clearly at school, where students who read often do better on the national tests. At the same time we must not forget that reading is also a source of joy and relaxation.

Strong opening — you catch the reader directly and state your thesis clearly.
"them that read" should be "those who read" — it refers to the people reading.
Good that you lean on research in your argument.
Do develop this with a concrete example from a book you have read yourself.
SUMMARY · written by your teacher

You drive a clear thesis and hold it through the whole text, and you back your arguments with both research and your own experience. What I want to see next is that you bring in a counterargument and address it — that makes the text considerably harder to question. Concretely for the next version: change "them that read" to "those who read", add an example from a book you have read yourself, and look over what the pronouns refer to in the two longest sentences.

Frequently asked questions about Gradr for students

What does a student get from Gradr?

In Gradr every student receives detailed, individualised formative feedback on their work — not only the students who think to ask. Feedback in Gradr is tied to the task's criteria, so the student sees both what is working and what to develop.

Who wrote the feedback a student sees?

The feedback always comes from the teacher. The AI in Gradr drafts wording, but the teacher reviews and approves every comment before the student sees it, and the teacher can rewrite or delete anything. Gradr never sets a grade for a student.

What support does Gradr offer students who need adaptations?

Gradr provides individual support in exam mode, such as text-to-speech and extended time per student. The teacher controls which adaptations apply to which student, and Gradr provides a digital writing surface for the exam.
