After a trial period during the spring term, KMS Kullaviks Montessori School is introducing Gradr for all teachers and students in grades 6–9. Teachers saw grading time cut by up to 50%.

KMS integrates Gradr for all teachers and students
After a successful trial period during the spring term, involving school leaders, teachers, and IT staff, KMS Kullaviks Montessori School decided to implement Gradr. The platform will now be rolled out to all teachers and students in grades 6–9.
The pilot phase included several user and coordination meetings to ensure that Gradr supports the school’s real pedagogical needs and use cases. User data and interviews from the test period showed that participating teachers reduced the time spent formulating feedback, grading tests, and communicating clear next steps to their students.
After the trial period, Magnus Blennerud, principal at KMS, said:
“It’s wonderful to see the teachers’ positive engagement. They have appreciated both Gradr’s affirming feedback on the qualities students demonstrate and its forward-looking suggestions for how students can continue to develop their knowledge and skills – it’s motivating for the students. It’s a real asset that Gradr is not only used summatively during exams, but above all, with a reasonable workload for the teacher, supports students’ formative learning at several points during a unit of work.”
During the trial period, teachers noted several key benefits:
Improved feedback quality
Teachers reported that AI-generated comments from Gradr were both rich in content and highly accurate. One teacher said:
“I’ve actually learned things from the feedback comments – things I hadn’t identified before.”
The platform highlights strengths alongside areas for improvement, making feedback more motivating for students.
Increased efficiency
While some teachers initially felt the new process took about as long as manual grading, many noticed reduced workload over time as they learned to instruct the AI effectively. Some reported grading times cut by up to 50% while delivering significantly more feedback.
Better student understanding
With clearer and more detailed formative feedback, students gain a deeper understanding of their achieved grades. With the teacher’s selection of, and when needed adjustment to, formative comments, students also get an enhanced and individually tailored opportunity for continued learning. The platform supports both formative and summative assessment.
Alexander Carlé, an English teacher at KMS, said:
“The AI is impressively detailed and aligns closely with how I would assess myself. It frees up time for me to focus on deeper pedagogical work.”
The collaboration between Gradr and KMS shows how AI can give teachers the ability to provide richer and more personal feedback while reducing workload. It is a clear example of how applied AI solutions designed for the Swedish school system can strengthen the human interaction between teacher and student.
